Sam Holwill rocketed to victory in the open road bike class at Cwmcarn Paragon’s July 30 time trial on the R10/59 Crosskeys-Risca course.
He clocked a time of 21min 45sec despite riding into a headwind on part of the circuit.
Steve Payne was runner-up in 24:44 with Paragon veteran Ross Porter third in 26:34.
Paragon club captain Darran Carpenter and Joe Taylor matched their last outing riding a two-up time trial as they again recorded a time of 22:22.
Sam Wilton and Alex Mitchell lost precious minutes because of mechanical problems but rectified the fault to finish in 26:16.
Paragon secretary Matt O’Brien powered to a win the open TT category in 23:13.
He finished ahead of Cardiff Ajax’s Marco Marlette (24:36) and Paragon’s Nigel Pearce (25:04).
Rosie May-Bennett clocked 24:58 for glory in the women’s TT with Paragon Julie Hooper second and first Para athlete in 25:17.
Brooke Collett made a solid solo debut to record 25:34 in the women’s road bike category.
